Just the job

This isn’t your regular job! Are you an open-minded person? Can you work under pressure whilst retaining a calm and relaxed exterior and maintain your sense of humour?
Can you see beyond the history of the person and remain determined to help people build really good person-centred lives?

We are an innovative community project working with people with a learning disability and mental health issues who have additional needs. We provide one to one support to help people live ‘a life worth living’.

The day-to-day job varies but involves supporting people to stay safe and healthy and to get out and about doing activities they enjoy (such as the cinema, bike rides, playing football).

This would be an excellent opportunity for students on courses such as Nursing, Social Work and Psychology/Criminology to apply theory to practice and get some relevant experience for their future career. The job may also suit people on other courses who want a change from customer service or hospitality roles.

No experience or qualifications in social care are required for the role. Applicants MUST have a strong value base, with an ability to respect the clients’ wishes and views and enable them to enjoy a full and enriched life of their choosing.

If you can commit to promoting the needs of others we can commit to helping you develop your career. Due to ongoing expansion, our positive and supportive management team and the people we work with, are looking for:

FULL-TIME, PART-TIME and BANK SUPPORT WORKERS in the Preston/Leyland Area.

For Full and Part- Time contracts

  • Salary £18,325 to £18,576 per annum (depending on qualifications)
  • PLUS additional sleepovers paid at £50 per night
  • Flexibility to work evenings and alternate weekends is essential.

UCLan suggests that students work no more than 15 hours a week which would work out as two shifts a week. However, we will be guided by you and can offer more hours if you think you can commit to this. We will build you a rota that fits in with your university commitments. Just let us know when you are unavailable.

For Bank Contracts

We appreciate that Bank contracts are not for everyone but may offer students the flexibility they need while studying. Work more during the holidays and less (or not at all) when deadlines are looming. Ideally bank staff will work some evenings and weekends but this is not required.

  • Salary is £9.50 – £9.63ph (depending on qualifications).
  • Sleepovers paid at £50 per night.

Our thriving packing project upskills people we work with who are living with mental health issues or other disabilities. They gain experience in a work environment and develop essential life and communication skills either as an enjoyable hobby in friendly surroundings or, to help lead to further work placements and employment.

Pak-It is a social enterprise engaging disadvantaged adults; its primary aim is to provide meaningful daytime activities within a work-like environment.
Pak-It is based in Preston city centre and has one workshop conveniently placed for all transport links.
At present, it can provide 25 places for disadvantaged adults over five working days.
It was started in 2008 with one work provider, however, as time passed the number of participants increased dramatically and so new work sources were sought.
We are traditionally sent work directly to us, along with any materials required for completion (boxes, envelopes etc.), we process the job and send it out either by courier or client collection.
Pak-It is the project title, however, over time the roles of the project have diversified so that packing is now only a part of the service offered.

Over the years Pak-It has acquired a skill set which allows us to undertake tasks, where automation would be impractical and expensive i.e. short runs and small to medium volumes. This service has proved attractive to customers with large client bases but small office facilities.
Pak-It is also involved in the distribution of health information packs, carers’ newsletters, and Public Health campaigns.
With such a diverse workforce, the team have made many practical adaptations to enable full inclusion whilst ensuring we maintain our high standard of work.
Along with many businesses, Covid 19 hit us hard and although we were able to help directly with packing Covid test kits for the NHS, we are now left in need of securing new work sources.

JOB TITLE : Pak-It Project Manager

AREA :                                     Social Enterprises

HOURS:-                                 Full Time 37 hours (Flexible working required)

SALARY: –                               £23,000

MAIN JOB PURPOSE:

The post requires creative development of the Project giving the clients the opportunity of taking part in meaningful day activities.
The successful applicant will promote Pak-It and facilitate its further development, with the aim of offering assistance to an increased number of disadvantaged people. Pak-It needs to expand its customer base, to increase revenue but more importantly to provide the meaningful tasks so vital to the service.
It is essential that the postholder works within Integrate’s philosophy and service principles and ensures that the rights of users are fundamental to service development and delivery.
Criminal Records Disclosure and Barring Service clearance is a mandatory requirement for this post.

SPECIFICALLY:

  • Overall responsibility for the development of the processing project and supervision of other project staff.
  • Maintenance and development of the project site to enhance the enjoyment of all clients and visitors to the project.
  • Proactively provide a safe and healthy working environment for all staff, user groups and visitors in line with Integrate’s Health and Safety Policy, and promote, actively demonstrate and ensure safe working practices.

  • Support a cooperative approach to working where Integrate clients have ownership of the project.
  • Ensure clients can reach their full potential by introducing them to a variety of skills, using simple instruction techniques and formulation of practical aids to assist with task completion
  • Ensure that the service design and delivery reflect the philosophy and principles of normalisation and policies of Integrate, and ensure a high-quality, individual, needs-led service to all service users.
  • To offer experienced and skilled professional leadership, support, supervision, assessment and consultation to project staff, particularly in technical and vocational training.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
