In Memory of Peter Green
1968–2026
It is with great sadness that we remember our colleague, friend and Director, Peter Green.
Peter joined Integrate in 2010, bringing with him many years of experience in mental health and a strong belief in people being given genuine opportunities, choice and the chance to be treated as equals.
During his time with Integrate, Peter led our social enterprises, supported living services, women’s and older people’s services, neighbourhood services and outreach programmes. His work touched many parts of the organisation and, more importantly, the lives of many of the people we support.
Peter’s contribution was also recognised beyond Integrate. In 2014, he received an award from the Social Enterprise Lancashire Network (Selnet) in recognition of his work alongside partner agencies, including Integrate’s partnership with Gateway on the Trinity Fold project. It was a fitting acknowledgement of Peter’s ability to bring people and organisations together, building partnerships that created opportunities and made a real difference to the people we supported.
Peter believed strongly in what our social enterprises could offer. For him, they were never simply activities or services. They were opportunities for people to build confidence, develop friendships, learn new skills, contribute, work and be recognised as equals within their communities.
That belief in people was at the heart of Peter’s work.
He brought experience and knowledge to Integrate, but he also brought something that cannot easily be written into a job description: his personality, humour, warmth and individuality. Peter was very much Peter, and those who worked alongside him will remember not only what he did, but the way he did it.
His Order of Service reflected that individuality perfectly – from Chandelier by Sia and Purple Rain by Prince, through to Firestarter by The Prodigy. It also included The Dash, a poem by Linda Ellis, which reflects on the small line between the date we are born and the date we die, and reminds us that what really matters is how that time is lived.
For Peter, that “dash” included many years as a devoted Husband and Father as well as having a lifelong passion for supporting others, challenging expectations, creating opportunities and helping people to live fuller and more equal lives.
Perhaps one of the clearest indications of what Integrate meant to Peter is that his family chose to invite donations in his memory to support the continuing work of the organisation.
Peter will be greatly missed by his colleagues, by the people he worked alongside and supported, and by everyone across Integrate who had the privilege of knowing him.
Our thoughts remain with Peter’s family, his daughters, friends and all those closest to him.
Thank you, Pete, for everything you gave to Integrate and, above all, to the people at the heart of it.
